Sastojci su bili terpentin, vosak, amonijačna guma, korijenje rodne trave, olibanum, bdelij, smirna i galbanum, opoponaks, verdigris, litarga, plus maslinovo ulje i ocat.

. 442 (arapski ٤٤٢) nosio je naziv “mast apostola” (arapski: مرهم الرسل marham ur rusul)

A dodecapharmacum is a medicine of twelve ingredients.

The best known was the Apostles’ Ointment (Latin: Apostolorum unguentum), or Ointment of Venus (Latin: unguentum Veneris) which was an ointment attributed to Avicenna (d.1037) made of twelve ingredients.

The ingredients were turpentine, wax, gum ammoniac, birthwort roots, olibanum, bdellium, myrrh and galbanum, opoponax, verdigris, litharge, plus olive oil, and vinegar.

The recipe described by Galen in the work Methodus medendi reads:

Cerae (100 drahms*),
Terebinthnae (200 drahms),
Secundum alios rubric (100 drahms),
Squamae Areis (8drahms),
Aeruginis Rasea (8 drahms),
Aristolochiae rotunda (8 drahms),
Thuris (8 drahms),
Salis Ammoniac (8drahms),
Guttae ammoniac (8 drahms),
Aluminis Ustivel rotunou (6 drahms),
Aeris Usti (8 drahms),
Myrrhae,(12 drahms),
Aloes (12 drahms),
Galbani (12 drahms),
Olei Veteris (heminan unam),
Aceti acris(heminas duas).

*1 drachma (Greek to grab, to take), refers to the weight and to the unit for coins made of silver, about 3.4 grams

Avicenna describes the ingredients and proportions of such a recipe in Qanun V.1.11. Some later writers have questioned whether the title of the recipe “Ointment of the Apostles,” or “Ointment of Venus” were used by Avicenna himself, however when an Arabic version of the Canon of Medicine was first printed in 1593 in Rome, recipe no. 442 (Arabic ٤٤٢) was entitled “ointment of the Apostles” (Arabic: مرهم الرسل marham ur rusul)
